That people would seek refuge in absolute certainty guaranteed by an omnipotent creator is not surprising in a time when things we once took for granted appear to be coming apart at the seams and answers of any kind are elusive. But that doesn’t make these folks and their Taliban-like political project any less frightening. On the contrary.
